Hello Bloggers,

My name is Kristen Harder and I am in your Tech for Teachers class. My prior experiences using technology are pretty base line. I took a Computer class in middle school and another one in High School where I learned how to do basic things such as formatting Excel spreadsheets and inserting pictures into PowerPoint, much of which I don’t really remember.

I really hope that this class can provide knowledge on different forms of technology that I can utilize in the classroom so that I can help my students reach their full potential. I believe that we ought to take advantage of the technology we have so readily available at our fingertips so that we can better equip the adults of tomorrow with tools for success.

I learned a few things about how I best learn from taking this survey. I discovered that I am an active, sensing, visual, and global learner. Active learners retain information best by talking about what they have learned, whether through discussion or by teaching it to others. Sensing learners like learning facts, solving problems through well-established methods, and are patient with details. Visual learners best remember what they see–pictures, diagrams, time lines, charts, etc. They often like to color-code their notes. Global learning tends to happen in random instances of “just getting it” without really knowing how or why. Many global learners like to look at the big picture before the smaller details.
